Christmas shoppers stand to be taken by surprise this month as campaigners take action in shopping centers around Europe to raise awareness of poverty wages of Cambodian garment workers. With these ‘fashion mobs’, they pressure H&M, Inditex (Zara), Levi’s and Gap to introduce a living wage in Cambodia

In 2011 alone over 2400 workers fainted in Cambodian factories due to poor diet and overwork, and were taken to hospital in 25 separate incidences. Unions say many more go unrecorded. This is because their workers aren’t paid enough, are malnourished and overworked. We decided to see what these stores would do if it happened in their shops

Pratunam Fashion Market on the Phetchaburi and Ratchaprarop intersection was originally a clothing wholesale market for smaller retail shops and other Bangkok and upcountry resellers. It is still a wholesale market where you can by the dozens and get a cheaper price. But today, the market is also a famous tourists where international visitors come to shop for all kind of reasonable priced clothes for men, women and children
This is maybe the cheapest market for buying clothes, fabrics and textiles in central Bangkok. Other merchandise include watches, handicraft and other products. The market is open everyday from 9 AM to 6 PM

How to get to Pratunam Market: You can reach the market by BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit Line at Ratchathewi Station; from there, exit down the right-hand stairs, take a right at the next main intersection, Ratchathewi, and walk down Phetchaburi Road until you see Platinum Fashion Mall, the market is directly across the street. You can enter through the small alleyways and jam-packed small streets
Baiyoke Tower 2 is located opposite of Pratunam Market. It has six floors with all kinds of mass market affordable clothing
They don’t offer designer labels or brand names which has a more expensive price level
The second basement level is interesting, as it has all kinds of graphic-printed T-shirts
